‘We refute the notion that the well-crafted written word is dead! It is alive and well and will always look its best in a dinner jacket’

Join us for all the thrills and spills of a live 1940s radio broadcast. Cautionary Christmas Tales of romance, suspense and bloodcurdling complexity, recorded live before your very ears – and eyes – by the rather dashing actors of the Berwick Broadcasting Corporation, with live sound effects.

Gasp as plots thicken! Leer as romance beckons! Tinkle as bells jingle! Clench with delicious horror as vowels are strangled by cut-glass accents! The Berwick Broadcasting Corporation explore the Christmas wonderland that time forgot, all in glorious Technicolor and with an open bar throughout.

The Maltings are proud to welcome newly-formed local theatre company, the Berwick Broadcasting Corporation, as they perform live a specially-commissioned script written by Fitzrovia Radio Hour associate director Tom Mallaburn in a new co-production between The Maltings and the London-based Fitzrovia Radio Hour.

It’s engaging, witty and very, very funny – and we think you’ll love it. The perfect night out, and in. Merry Christmas!

Radio theatre lets your imagination run wild, but seeing a live radio play recording makes the form doubly entertaining … tongue-in-cheek delivery, costumes and retro humour are part of the package, but it's more than that. Being there when something is being recorded is thrilling – The Guardian on The Fitzrovia Radio Hour
