Dick Gaughan has been at the cutting edge of Scottish music for
over three decades. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, actor, musical
director, composer, arranger, producer, engineer, he’s been
there, done it. The huge range of diverse musicians he has played
and sung with over the years reads like some manically eclectic
Who’s Who of the worlds of Celtic, Folk, Blues, Rock, Country
and way beyond – Scottish Opera, Billy Bragg, Emmylou Harris,
Tom Paxton, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Sean McGuire, Maya Angelou,
The Dubliners, Loudon Wainwright III.... the list goes on and on!
Throughout his incarnations as a member of Boys of the Lough,
Five Hand Reel and Clan Alba, in occasional duos with
Aly Bain, Andy Irvine, Johnny Cunningham, Brian McNeill and Allan
Taylor, and as one of the hardest-working solo performers in any
area of music, his work has consistently been innovative and challenging.
“How music from the gut really sounds...”
The Guardian
“One of the most charismatic of Scottish
perfomers – an artist who can make you laugh, cry and explode
with anger with every twist and nuance
of delivery”
