Dementia Friendly Screening: Jailhouse Rock

The Maltings is proud to host a second season of monthly screenings tailored to the needs of those living with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

Everyone is welcome to join us for these relaxed screenings of specially selected film classics.

A young man, Vince Everett, is convicted of manslaughter after being drawn into a bar fight while trying to defend a woman. In prison, Everett finds salvation when his country singer cellmate, hears him sing and pegs him as a future star. Once released, Everett gets a job in a night club and meets a young woman who works for a record company and also sees talent in Everett.

What to expect from a Dementia Friendly Screening:

Lights are left on lowsound levels are reduced, and it’s fine for customers to move around during the film.

All screenings take place in our Henry Travers Studio, with a combination of raked seating and chairs and tables on a level floor.

We won’t be showing trailers or adverts, so films start promptly at 2pm. Doors will open 20 minutes before, so there’s plenty of time to find a seat.

All screenings are priced at the reduced rate of £4.50 and carers tickets are free if the registered disabled person has applied for a CEA card HERE.
Cast: Elvis Presley, Judy Tyler, Mickey Shaughnessy
