The Maltings has two principal performance spaces: The Main House Theatre and the Henry Travers Studio. We occasionally present performances in The Stage Door Bar and The Penny Lodging House.
The Main House Theatre
Capacity: 321. (Stalls 253; Circle 44; Boxes 24)
A traditional proscenium arch theatre with raked stalls, circle and boxes. Excellent sightlines and an intimate feel.
The Henry Travers Studio
Capacity: 74 on retractable seating or up to 100 mixing retractable seating and flexible seating or up to 100 using solely flexible seating.
A fully equipped black box studio space with cinema screening facilities including digital projector and retractable screen.
The Stage Door Bar
Capacity: Approx 50 capacity with flexible caberet style seating.
The Stage Door Bar is a beautiful theatre bar, fully licenced, open seven nights a week. A small permanent stage is available for musicians/speakers. Suitable for intimate music performance. PA must be supplied. Very limited theatrical lighting available.
The Penny Lodging House
Capacity: Total 40, including performers and stewards.
A semi derelict Georgian office building comprising around 12 rooms over three floors. Suitable only for site-specific performance. No heating available. Electrics limited. Only available by special arrangement with the theatre, during the summer months.
