Big Draw 2021

8 December 2021

October is the Big Draw Festival month and during 2021 we delivered two opportunities to engage families. Our first was an in-person workshop in The Gymnasium Gallery, inspired by Gemma Burditt’s Future Landscapes exhibition, the session was led by artist Sinéad Kempley. Families attending used recycled and natural materials to collage their own zine, with a theme of Make the Change.

For those who couldn’t make this session, we held a second zine-making workshop online for the beginning of half-term, led for the second year running by Berwick illustrator Katie Chappell. We partnered with Northumberland Libraries for this event which saw audiences tune in from across the UK and the world including Germany, New York and Tel Aviv, zines were shared online using the hashtag #BigDrawNland and participants were able to ask Katie questions during the live session.
