Berwick Festival Opera: Christmas Opera Recital

Berwick Festival Opera and Rocket Opera are closing their 2018 season in style with a festively-themed opera recital in the intimate acoustic of The Maltings’ Studio. A sparkling tree, the magical wintry lights of Berwick in the distance, a glass of something warming, and a massive dose of Christmas cheer will make this the perfect prelude to your Happy Holidays.

A trio of familiar voices will be accompanied by our Steinway grand piano as we celebrate the magic of Christmas in truly operatic terms with a sublime programme including:

Christmas Medley


Tenor AUSTIN GUNN is well-known to Berwick audiences for his starring performances for BFO since its launch 2014, combining a fabulous voice with a great sense of drama - and excellent comic timing. He’s worked for English National Opera, Scottish Opera and has appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival, as well as performing in recitals around the UK and Europe.

Berwick-based TAMSIN DAVIDSON is another favourite with BFO audiences after stand-out performances in Dido & Aeneas, The Mikado, La Scala di Seta, Iolanthe, and The Vampyre, alongside her busy schedule as a soloist at recitals across the UK. 

 

NIAMH CARR is one of the leading youth sopranos in the U.K. who made her Berwick Festival Opera debut as Spirit in Dido & Aeneas in the in the inaugural festival in 2014. Her other BFO performances include ensemble in Pirates of PenzanceThe MikadoIolanthe and HMS Pinafore. 

She is now a choral scholar at St John's, Newcastle and was recently awarded an associate diploma from Trinity College London and won a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for next year.
