Board of Trustees
The Maltings Theatre & Cinema is managed by The Maltings (Berwick) Trust, an independent charitable trust. The Trust is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees/Directors responsible for the governance and strategic management of the Trust.

Graham Brown, Chair
Formerly Business Director of one of the North East’s leading affordable housing companies (ISOS), now retired. Previously a trustee of various charities, Graham is currently Chair of a Newcastle-based housing association. 
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD).
Graham joined the Board in 2014.  His business interests include strategic leadership and organisational development. 
Joe Lang
Joe is a business consultant specialising in brand, customer, employee and investor communications. He founded a London communications strategy and content agency, which he ran for over 30 years. Clients included many FTSE100 and overseas-based multinationals, as well as arts organisations such as Arts Council England, English National Opera and Glyndebourne. He was elected a Fellow of the British Association of Communicators in Business (now FIIC) in 2002 and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) in 2005.
He joined the Board in 2015 and takes a particular interest in strategy, marketing and finance.
Scott Sherrard
Now living near Duns, Scott worked in London for many years managing two major advertising agencies - Grey London as Managing Director, and CDP as Chairman, with clients including Nike, P&G, Mars, and Warner Bros. He set up a strategic consultancy, the Cambridge Centre, focusing on brand development and destination marketing for clients including the Mary Rose, Alnwick Castle and Garden, Durham County Cricket Club, Great Run Company, the Scottish Government, Castle Howard, and the National Trust for Scotland. He also owns Theatre of Ideas, using theatre workshop techniques to encourage creativity in business.
His interest is in developing audiences through defined brand strengths and marketing.  

Jan Casson

Jan has worked in the Early Years sector for 41 years, formerly in day nurseries including St Thomas Hospital and Hammersmith & Fulham Education Department, and latterly in the Sure Start programme. Jan moved to Berwick upon Tweed in 2001 to set up and manage the regional programme, establishing Children’s Centres in Berwick, Wooler, Alnwick and Rothbury. Jan’s particular interest is in community engagement, and connecting children and young people and their families to cultural activities.

Amanda Brown
Amanda has worked for the BBC since 2005 and currently manages the scheduling of all programmes on BBC Radio 4. Prior to this she worked as a retail buyer, managing budgets of up to £50m. She has a Masters in Film and Broadcasting and a PhD in Audience Research.

Amanda has a particular interest in comedy and ran a comedy club for BBC staff for two years. She also has a background in photography as  a volunteer photographer for Radio 4, in particular for Desert Island Discs.
