In Conversation with Cecilia Stenbom

Berwick Visual Arts 2013 Artist in Residence returns to Berwick to debut her new film, Rules of Engagement! Followed by a Q&A hosted by Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival director, Peter Taylor.

Originally from Sweden and now based in North East England, Cecilia Stenbom focuses on media-saturated, consumer-driven everyday environments, and the affect these have on human response, identity, behaviour and interaction.

This free screening event debuts Rules of Engagement, which tells the stories of Jack, Robin and Nadia through a mix of dramatic re-enactment and chamber play of encounter and emotion; the film explores the innate human desire to ‘belong’.

Rules of Engagement will be screened alongside three other shorts by Stenbom, the theme of which is centred on the liquidity of reality and fiction. The films in this screening also relate to Northumberland, and include The Case, filmed in Berwick during Cecilia’s 2013 residency with Berwick Visual Arts and Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival.

Screenings will be followed by a Q&A hosted by director of Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Peter Taylor.
