Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts return to Berwick following their first performance in November 2010.
2010 BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award nominees Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts combine astounding lap-tapping guitar, fiery fiddle and their trademark harmonies to make a truly distinctive sound. They performance contemporary arrangements of traditional songs, and their original material ranges from blazing instrumentals to heart-wrenching songs.
Since releasing their début album Shadows & Half Light in 2008 -- 'one of the finest contemporary folk albums in recent memory' (FishRecords.co.uk) – Katriona and Jamie have been wowing audiences with their unassuming, confident displays of instrumental technique.
2010 saw the release of their hotly-anticipated second album, Up From The Deep (with guest musicians Cia Cherryholmes on banjo and PJ Wright on pedal steel), which scored a Hancock Award for Best Original Song (Fleetwood Fair). In 2011, they spent five weeks touring with folk-rock legends Fairport Convention, completed their own 30-date nationwide tour, and performed at two of Britain’s largest acoustic music festivals – the Cambridge Folk Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.
Katriona previously toured as part of Tiny Tin Lady and with Rosie Doonan's Snapdragons, and recently joined the newly reformed Albion Band. Jamie has played with young English traditionalists Kerfuffle since 2007. They have also supported bands such as Dave Swarbrick, Bellowhead, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and Spiers & Boden. In addition to their work together, they are in demand as session musicians.
