This incredible duo creates a unique Indo-Celtic sound, performing a variety of original, traditional, mystical and spiritual folk music from many roots. Their acoustic concerts are seasonal celebrations that feature the east-west harmony of Robin and Bina's voices, with harp, bowed psaltery, dulcimer and other instruments. Their performance at the 2005 Royal Festival Hall London Meltdown US-UK Connections was described in the Guardian as “a highlight of the Festival”. This is real music – full of soul, magical, funky and true.
Robin is the founder of the influential Incredible String Band (1960s) and the Merry Band (70s). He has been a key figure at the forefront of the storytelling revival in Europe and America since the 80s, and authored a number of books including The Craneskin Bag (re-telling and re-versifications of Celtic lore) and Celtic Bards, Celtic Druids (co-authored with R.J. Stewart). He is Honorary Chief Bard of The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids.
East-African born British Asian Bina has been performing and recording for a number of years, touring with Robin not only as a duo, but also with the Just Like Ivy Band and the reformed Incredible String Band. Bina has a voice of resonance, innocence and warmth, drawing on a variety of Indian styles as well as the Celtic heritage and British folk traditions.
