Following on from last year’s NODA award-winning sell-out sensation Oliver!, Berwick Operatic Society return with a daring new musical based on the smash hit film Made In Dagenham!

Based on a true story, the show tells the uplifting tale of Rita O’Grady as she leads her gang of co-workers in a workers’ strike against the Ford Motor Company. Fighting sexual discrimination, politicians and the brutal might of a multi-national corporate giant as they demand equal pay, they refuse to back down as they set out to change the course of the nation forever.

By turns comic, inspiring and deeply moving, Rita’s story is a stirring call to arms for society’s forgotten souls and the disenfranchised.

Adapted by Richard Thomas and Richard Bean from William Ivory’s original script, the show boasts a sensational score and some unforgettable musical numbers.

Musical direction comes courtesy of Mike Hardy with long-time Berwick Operatic royalty Angela Winson providing choreography. Robert Flynn (founder of Tideline Runners Theatre Company) has come on board to direct the play.

“With so many well-known songs involved, tackling such a classic is risky, but this was a gifted cast, capable of exhilarating ensemble numbers and technical harmonies. Indeed, it was the quality of the singing which gave the show a professional edge, supported by the excellent live band.” - Berwick Advertiser on Oliver! 2017
