The UK’s first Theatre Company of Sanctuary, Stand and Be Counted present a wild and vivid vision of the future, combining storytelling, movement and live music. Five performers from across the globe challenge existing notions of ‘home’ in this multilingual celebration of personal identity.

Bridging the Gap
Now in it's eigth year, Bridging the Gap is a project developed by ARC, originally in conjunction with Newcastle Theatre Royal and The Maltings, designed to contribute towards the creation of new theatre work within the North East region.

The venues worked together to offer a joint package of in-kind support to enable North East based artists/theatre companies to develop and present new pieces of work across the venues. Over the years the scheme expanded to include other North East venues.

“The Maltings is delighted to continue its relationship with 9 other North East/Yorkshire based theatres for the return of Bridging the Gap in 2017/18. It’s always exciting to see the interesting and innovative work that the talent base from our region delivers, and we’re proud to continue our support of new and promising companies." - Daniel Cox, The Maltings Programming Associate
Year: 2018
The Maltings is operated by The Maltings (Berwick) Trust Registered Charity No: 701194
