FITZROVIA PERFORMANCE POSTPONED

We interrupt this broadcast with the following message from the Home Service:

The Ministry of Radio has now confirmed earlier reports that the Fitzrovia Radio Hour transport vehicle came under duress in the Lake District. Thankfully, all personnel were safely evacuated to the grass verge and all props remain accounted for. (Watch a short film of their perilous journey by clicking here.)

Sadly, for the residents of the northernmost town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, the outfit is unable to report for duty as scheduled and apologises for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

Alternative arrangements have already been made and the fine ladies and gentlemen of Fitzrovia will return to The Maltings Theatre on FRIDAY 9 NOVEMBER. All ticket holders are instructed to please hold on to their tickets. Seats will automatically be transferred to the new date. Thank you.

Fitzrovia returns to Berwick!

Recreating the unique spirit of 1940’s radio plays and brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism and stiff upper lips. The Fitzrovia Radio Hour’s brand-new show tours fresh from three critically acclaimed London residencies, and two sell-out years at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Performed with cut-glass theatricality blending homage and satire, Fitzrovia mixes the chauvinist attitudes of 1940s Britain with sharp contemporary humour to produce a heady comic cocktail. Throughout the plays, sound effects are created live: a Bakelite hairdryer imitates a heating torch, a desk fan becomes an aeroplane, and multiple types of cabbage help to stage a fight scene. Rippingly good fun!
