ACCESSIBLE CINEMA

  • CEA Card - We accept the CEA Card which enables a registered disabled person to obtain a free CINEMA ticket for a carer to accompany them to a film. To join the scheme, the registered disabled person (NOT the carer) must apply in advance directly with the CEA (NOT from The Maltings). Full details, application and guidance is available on the CEA Card website.
  • HOH English (Subtitled Screenings) for people with hearing loss
  • Our Autism Friendly relaxed screenings are cheduled throughout the year offering a sympathetic sensory experience for people on the autism spectrum (lighting left on low, softer volume, no trailers or adverts, okay to make noise and move about, bar available as a “chill-out space”, patrons on a special diet can bring their own food).

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY CINEMA

The Maltings is proud to test a season of monthly screenings tailored to the needs of those living with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

Everyone is welcome to join us for these relaxed screenings of specially selected film classics.

Lights are left on low, sound levels are reduced, and it’s fine for customers to move around during the film.

Some screenings will take place in our Henry Travers Studio, with a combination of raked seating and chairs and tables on a level floor, others will take place in our Main House Theatre (where wheelchair spaces are limited, so advance booking is encouraged by contacting the box office directly).

All screenings are priced at the reduced rate of £4.50 and carers tickets are free if the registered disabled person has applied for a CEA card at www.ceacard.co.uk

We won’t be showing trailers or adverts, so films start promptly at 2pm. Doors will open 20 minutes before, so there’s plenty of time to find a seat.

Your feedback will be crucial in developing this test season into a long-term commitment, so please share your thoughts with us on any aspect, from how suitable you find the venue, to the information we provide, even what films you might like to see. It’s all greatly appreciated and will help shape the future of Dementia Friendly Screenings at The Maltings.

We’ll be providing audiences with short post-screening questionnaires. If you are able to spend 5 minutes filling these in, we’d be most grateful.

If there’s anything you’d like to tell us right now, email us at
feedback@maltingsberwick.co.uk

If you have any practical questions please call our Box Office on 01289 330 999 or email box.office@maltingsberwick.co.uk
