The Maltings has some of the best facilities in the local area for larger meetings and conferences, at very reasonable rates:

The Maltings provides a diverse and high quality cultural programme of live performances, exhibitions and cinema for Berwick and its surrounding communities throughout the year. We will consider all requests to access our facilities in the light of this programming policy and reserve the right to refuse requests to hire our space on this basis. All hires are subject to venue availability. 

Main House Theatre 

  • At 300 seats, our beautiful Main House theatre is the largest venue in the area, and can be used for conferences, presentations, parties, screenings and live events.
  • State-of-the-art digital projection facilities, huge cinema screen and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound.
  • Fully technically equipped with lighting and P.A., including microphones etc., and our helpful technical team are always on hand to make sure your event goes to plan.

In order to book the Main House for a specific date, we strongly advise you contact us at least nine months in advance. 


Henry Travers Studio 

  • Capacity: 120 standing or 74 seated on retractable seating, or 50 seated in “cabaret-style” conferencing.
  • A fully-equipped, state-of-the-art black box studio theatre, cinema, rehearsal and meeting space.
  • Can function as a large open space (around 140m2), ideal for workshops, rehearsals, large meetings and presentations.
  • With a powerful digital projector and retractable large screen, the Studio is ideal for screenings or presentations. It is fully technically equipped with lighting and pa, including microphones etc, and our helpful technical team are always on hand to make sure your event goes to plan.

In order to book the Studio for a specific date, we strongly advise you to contact us at least nine months in advance. 
 

Stage Door Bar

  • Capacity: 100 standing, 45 seated
  • The Stage Door Bar is a characterful space. Fully-licenced, it serves a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. 

The bar is primarily an evening space, but during the day it provides a relaxed and informal space for small meetings.

Professional performance hires include the services of up to 4 hours techincal time for preparation prior to the event and during the event itself. They also include box office, the services of our volunteer steward team if required, and use of our green room and a dressing room during the event. Please note that any tickets for your event must be sold exclusively through our box office, and that a £1 refurbishment contribution must be included in all ticket prices. This refurbishment contribution will be retained by The Maltings. We may be able to assist in advertising your event if it is in line with our artistic policy, and if this is the case then an additional charge of £50 will be made. MEETING & CONFERENCE HIRE CHARGES

  MON-SUN
Main House Theatre £175 for a minimum 3 hour hire, £50 per hour thereafter, no VAT charged
Henry Travers Studio £40 for minimum 2 hour hire, £17.50 per hour thereafter, no VAT charged
Meeting Room £10 p/h (no VAT)
Stage Door Bar £10 p/h (no VAT) - Services of bar staff will attract additional charges.


Daytime conference hires have a minimum hire period of 3 hours, and must take place between 9am and 5.30pm. Daytime conference hires include the services of one technician for up to 1 hour preparation prior to the event and during the event itself. They also include box office, the services of our volunteer steward team if required, and use of our green room and a dressing room during the event. Please note that any tickets for your event must be sold exclusively through our box office, and that a £1 refurbishment contribution must be included in all ticket prices. If you would like to hire our venue for conferences or public meetings, please contact our Theatre Manager - Shona Hammon. Shona can also provide Ticketing Services for events not taking place at The Maltings, no matter how large or small. Customers can purchase tickets in-person, via telephone, as well as using our 24-hour online booking facility on this website.
