Our Resources

We see our buildings, equipment and specialist skills as versatile assets for artists and the community. And we want to work with you to ensure they’re used to their fullest extent.

Using The Maltings for your work

In recent years, we’ve welcomed performers and dancers to the Gymnasium Gallery for R&D and rehearsal time as well as performances  – including hosting the world premier of Shobana Jeyasingh’s Contagion. In the future, following the full refurbishment planned for 2022, we hope to use this unique space as a venue for recitals, talks and other performances throughout the year.

Both our Main House and Studio Theatre are available for hire – in line with our over-arching programme policy – and a range of community organisations and schools perform with us every year.

We also hire out spaces for sound recording and filming.

As part of our wider commitment to supporting professional residencies and  commissions, we also work with companies to support the creation of new work by giving them access to our space on a partnership/associate basis. Most recently, choreographer Roman Baca and his company spent a week in Berwick developing and showcasing their latest work in progress Spring Works.

If you’d like to talk to us about working in Berwick, please contact James Lowther (Gymnasium Gallery) or Daniel Cox (The Maltings).
