Exhibitions at our Galleries
Our two exhibition spaces provide regular opportunities to experience exceptional, ambitious visual art through a curated programme of exhibitions, artists residencies, schools activities, events and projects.
From LS Lowry to JMW Turner, Granary Gallery champions some of the most celebrated British and Scottish artists through its rich year-round programme. Housed in an old granary from 1769 which is situated inside of Berwick’s Elizabethan Quay Walls, the gallery presents exhibitions throughout the year often with a focus on modern and contemporary artists who have been inspired by Northumberland and Scottish borders.
Recent exhibitions have included the critically acclaimed Lowry and the Sea, Anne Redpath and Her Circle, Turner: Northern Exposure and The Glasgow Boys & Girls.
The Gymnasium Gallery is a uniquely atmospheric space, used specifically to showcase commissions and touring exhibitions of high quality contemporary and conceptual work from regional, national and international artists.
Our residency programme offers the opportunity for 2 mid career artists per year to live and work in Berwick.
We also deliver visual arts development for young people across Northumberland, as well as supporting dance initiatives across the region on behalf of Northumberland Arts Development.
The Maltings, Eastern Lane
The Maltings Eastern Lane venue is now closed for a multi-million-pound redevelopment and is due to reopen by the end of 2027. This transformational building project is funded by the Borderlands Regional Growth Deal and Northumberland County Council.
