Artists & Creatives

Artists are at the heart of our programme.

We support artists at different stages of their careers through studio spaces, residencies and opportunities to develop and share new work. Alongside this, our visual arts archive offers insight into the artists and exhibitions that have shaped our programme over time.

Artist Residencies

Our residencies offer artists time, space and support to develop new work in Berwick - creating opportunities to connect with the town, its landscapes and its communities. We invite artists to spend time here at different stages of their practice, providing the freedom to research, experiment and create in response to place. Whether working independently or alongside local people, artists are encouraged to explore new ideas and approaches, with the time and support to let work evolve. Through this work, we support the development of new ideas while building lasting connections between artists, place and people.

Artist Studios

Our artist studios at Berwick Barracks provide dedicated space for artists to work and develop their practice as part of a growing creative community. Set within the historic Barracks, the studios offer a supportive environment alongside our wider programme of residencies, exhibitions and events. Artists based here become part of a wider network - connecting with the town, its landscapes and its communities. We currently manage five studios, with opportunities available through a waiting list, alongside a flexible space for short-term hire.
