Being a new parent can be a demanding experience, so take time out to escape at our baby-friendly screenings of our biggest hits. All tickets £5 (babies go FREE!) including a FREE tea or coffee in the Café Bar (available 9.30am - 10.30am).

“After successfully launching our Dementia Friendly Screenings in 2018, we’re thrilled to test out demand for these special Baby Friendly Cinema events. It can be tough for new parents to find time to socialise, so we’re hoping these screenings will provide a relaxed atmosphere to unwind and mingle with other parents. Children aren’t cheap, and money can be tight, so we’re lowering our ticket price to £5 (babies go free), which also includes a free cup of tea or coffee in the Café Bar before the screening begins to ensure price isn’t a barrier.” – Daniel Cox, Programme Manager.
To make the screening as comfortable as possible, we make the following adjustments:
- Soft level of lighting throughout
- Reduced film volume.
- Dedicated area for prams
- You'll be able to move freely around the auditorium, should you or your little one need to.
These screenings are only for parents/guardians and their babies (up to 2 years old), so there’s no need to worry about disturbing other guests while the film’s playing.
NOTE: Only parents or carers with babies (up to 2 years old) will be admitted to these screenings.

This is our first time trialling a Baby Friendly Screening after months of research and development, so we appreciate all feedback! If you have any feedback before the event, please e-mail us at or if you have any further questions, please e-mail us at

  • CEA Card - We accept the CEA Card which enables a registered disabled person to obtain a free CINEMA ticket for a carer to accompany them to a film. To join the scheme, the registered disabled person (NOT the carer) must apply in advance directly with the CEA (NOT from The Maltings). Full details, application and guidance is available on the CEA Card website.
  • HOH English (Subtitled Screenings) for people with hearing loss

Our Autism Friendly Screenings are scheduled throughout the year offering a sympathetic sensory experience for people on the autism spectrum and to create a more comfortable cinematic experience for their families and carers.

Lights are left on low, the film is played at a softer volume and there are no trailers or adverts. It's also okay to make noise and move about, and our Stage Door Bar is available as a “chill-out space”. We also very happy for patrons on a special diet to bring their own food.

Since we started Dementia Friendly Screenings in May 2018, the positive feedback has been overwhelming, with our customers saying “the fact they offer this programme has made our day” and “we had the best day out with our service users and can’t wait to come back again! It was such a delight for us all to have a fun, relaxed trip out together. The staff made everyone feel so welcome and they ensured our visit was straight forward, it’s great to have a service like this available in our town.” – it’s safe to say we’re very proud to be continuing to host this season in 2019.

Everyone is welcome to join us for these relaxed screenings of specially selected film classics.

Lights are left on low, sound levels are reduced, and it’s fine for customers to move around during the film.

Screenings will take place in our Henry Travers Studio, with a combination of raked seating and chairs and tables on a level floor.

All screenings are priced at the reduced rate of £4.50 and carers tickets are free if the registered disabled person has applied for a CEA card at

We won’t be showing trailers or adverts, so films start promptly at 2pm. Doors will open 20 minutes before, so there’s plenty of time to find a seat.
