For his residency and commission in Berwick in 2025-26, Lewis Hetherington will work with local people to explore the physical, cultural, and historical experiences of edges, in-between spaces, and borders. They will draw on ritual and performance as a way to cope with the turbulent present, developing folkloric characters and sculptural costumes that invite us to cross the threshold into new experiences of community and belonging. Their project will culminate in a spectacular community-led pageant marking the Spring equinox in March 2026. 

Lewis Hetherington is a playwright whose work is rooted in storytelling and collaboration. He is co -founder of fieldwork performance and Constellation Points. He has worked with organisations like National Theatre of Scotland, Citizens Theatre, Platform Theatre, National Youth Theatre and Traverse Theatre. His work has toured all over the world including performances in China, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Australia, US, Japan and many more places in between.
