During the academic year 2025-26, Martha Ellis will work with pupils, teachers and the wider school community to create a new work of art inspired by the school and the heritage of Berwick upon Tweed. This work of art will remain in the school as a legacy of the residency.

As Martha explains; “Working with a ‘real life artist’ can be life changing for students at secondary school age, learning new skills and being shown what is possible beyond school education is hugely important (and often missed). The position of Artist is an opportunity to share in the responsibly of educating and also inspiring potential future artists. I have high expectations of students I work with, ensuring there is a high quality of artist outcomes created during my time at the Academy.”
