The Maltings (Berwick) Trust, working in partnership with Berwick Barracks Heritage Trust (BBHT), English Heritage (EH), The King’s Own Scottish Borderers Association (KOSB) and Northumberland County Council, and supported by Arts Council England’s Cultural Development Fund, The National Lottery Heritage Fund and other generous partners, is bringing new life to Berwick Barracks. Together, we’re restoring its historic role as a central part of the town’s social and culture life, creating a vibrant destination where heritage and creativity meet.
Over the next two years, we’ll be delivering a wide-ranging and inspiring programme of events and community projects – inviting people of all ages to explore, take part and experience the Barracks in new and exciting ways.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in delivering artistic and community events connected to the town’s history and culture.
Working with Living Barracks staff and volunteers, you could be stewarding on a range of events, from largescale projects with hundreds of participants to group activities and public talks. Whether it be welcoming audience members, staffing stations or serving refreshments, you will be helping to make the event safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
The role is about being present in the space, observing visitor behaviour, and ensuring the event is enjoyed respectfully and safely.
No previous experience is required, but an interest in the arts/culture and a strong sense of responsibility are important.
