The felling of the tree in Sycamore Gap in 2024 led to a world-wide outpouring of grief. Eighty archaeologists came together to offer comfort in the form of a book in which each described their favourite place on Hadrian’s Wall. A second book, also edited by David Breeze, about trees along Hadrian’s Wall and their history, followed.
David Breeze is a British archaeologist, teacher and scholar of Hadrian’s Wall, the Antonine Wall and the Roman Army.
This event is kindly sponsored by the Border Archaeological Society.
