Paul Stevenson is a lived experience advocate, speaker, author of the children’s book My Tics and Me, and played a role in the award-winning film I Swear. Diagnosed later in life with Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, and OCD, Paul now uses storytelling to challenge stigma and improve understanding. In this session, he will discuss the inspiration behind the book, the importance of early education, and how awareness can grow into understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for children and families.
As part of this year’s Schools and Young People’s Programme, Paul Stevenson will also be visiting the high schools we work with to talk about his experiences, writing and how we can all find our way to better awareness, understanding and well-being.

These organisations support people of all ages living with TS, a complex and hereditary neurological condition, affecting 1 in 100 people and characterized by involuntary movements and vocalisations called tics. Many people with TS find the condition embarrassing, exhausting, painful and isolating.
