Hidden Agenda – Socially Conscious Craft

Hidden Agenda presents works by makers and designers who use craft as a platform for social comment and provocation, exploring issues such as environmental responsibility, war, class and work.

Exhibiting for the first time in Berwick, the artist Doug Jones presents one of his newest pieces. In response to Jones’ politically and socially driven installations, 11 objects from the Crafts Council Collection are on display alongside work by Karen Thompson selected from a call for submissions to Berwick Visual Arts by makers based in the North East.

All of the pieces presented have been made by UK makers and ask visitors to consider our relationship with these subjects through their form, iconography, materials and production techniques.

Hidden Agenda is a Crafts Council Collection exhibition, curated in partnership with Berwick Visual Arts and Doug Jones.
