The Sci-fi Scriptorium is a collective project to imagine and talk about our future, initiated by artist Caroline Jupp.
The project so far has included creative drop-in sessions in the community, where different groups of readers, writers and makers were invited to imagine and speculate about future Berwick through writing, reading and collage.
An exhibition of the works produced by Caroline Jupp and workshop participants over recent months is on show at FOLDYARD Gallery.
Following her training in Printmaking and Public Art, Caroline Jupp has focused on DIY publishing, often using out-of-print books, cult novels and films as inspiration for her many participatory projects. Texts and publications are gathered together to create new archives or libraries, such as her major collaborative project with Sam Brown, Library of Unwritten Books, inspired by Beat writer, Richard Brautigan, which involved over 800 interviews with people about the book they would like to write. Jupp currently lives and works in London. Alongside her studio practice, she is also a school librarian and a film programmer for a community cinema.
