Festive Film Magic Arrives at Maltings Cinema After a Brilliant Opening Season

8 December 2025

Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks is delighted to ring in the festive season by bringing a beloved line-up of Christmas classics to the big screen — a celebration of a remarkable few months since the cinema’s successful move to its new home inside historic Berwick Barracks. It’s been a blockbuster year with 467 screenings and an impressive 158 different films and broadcasts welcomed to the big screen so far.

After record-breaking attendance and enthusiastic community feedback, Maltings Cinema has re-established itself as a go-to cultural hub for filmgoers in Berwick, and beyond. With many December screenings already proving popular, audiences can look forward to a varied festive film programme including:

Home Alone (1990) (PG) | Saturday 13 December

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) (PG) | Saturday 20 December

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) (U) | 21 & 23 December

Elf (2003) (PG) | Monday 22 December

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) (U) | Wednesday 24 December

These family favourites sit alongside new releases such as The Choral (12A), Nuremberg (15) and Zootropolis 2 (PG).

Following high demand earlier in the year, the cinema is also bringing back favourites including Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (15) and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (PG) offering those that missed the films, the chance to see them on the big screen. Visitors can enjoy the venue’s comfortable new seats, complete with plenty of legroom, as well as state-of-the-art projection and sound.
