Our programme includes workshops, artist residencies and collaborative projects, designed to support creative development, build confidence and open up new ways of thinking. We work closely with teachers and partners to shape activity that is relevant, engaging and responsive to each school community.
School Gallery Visits and Workshops
We welcome schools to both our galleries for visits to exhibitions and workshops facilitated by artists.
North Northumberland Creative Schools Cluster
We host termly meetings that are open to all school teachers and colleagues interested in working with cultural organisations that offer excellent creative learning opportunities for schools. The sessions aim to build partnerships between schools, artists, cultural organisations and opportunities and are supported by Northumberland County Council.
Berwick Academy Partnership
We work in partnership with Berwick Academy to create opportunities for young people to engage with creativity in different ways. During the 2025/26 school year, students worked alongside artist Martha Ellis as part of a year-long residency, exploring creative practice through hands-on making, experimentation and developing their own ideas. Building on the success of this programme, our partnership will continue in the 2026/27 academic year with a new Dance Residency, giving students fresh opportunities to explore creativity through movement, collaboration and performance. Alongside these residencies, our Young Film Programmers Club gives students an active role in shaping the cinema programme - selecting films, developing ideas and creating opportunities for their peers to experience film in new ways. Together, these projects support young people to build confidence, develop new skills and see themselves as active participants in Berwick's cultural life.
Maltings Youth Theatre
Join our fun, dynamic sessions designed to build confidence and spark imagination.
Working in Partnership with Holy Trinity First School
As part of Holy Trinity Primary School's 300th anniversary celebrations, artist Justine Miller is working with pupils, staff, parents and governors to create a unique commemorative textile artwork. Through a series of workshops inspired by the school's archives, the project explores the school's past, celebrates its present and reflects on its aspirations for the future, resulting in a lasting artwork designed by the whole school community.
