A film auteur planning a comeback attempts to heal the fractured relationship with eldest daughter Nora, an accomplished stage actor, while ignoring her long-held fury over her father’s post-divorce abandonment of family and home during his two daughters’ childhood. Instead, he wants to cast Nora in his latest movie focussing on and located in the same house in which he grew up, where his mother died and his late wife and their two daughters subsequently lived. Nora is clearly reluctant to take up such a role.
This multi award-nominated film is an intimate exploration of a family drama, steeped in memories and emotional legacies. Interwoven by the backdrop of film and theatre, it is peppered with some intense stand-offs and ironies, whilst throughout it raises the question: can the potential power of creative connection heal such a deep rift?
