Instead of receiving a blessing at his naming ceremony, a prediction is proclaimed that Muzamil will die at twenty.
His shocked mother is bereft, his father retreats. But as the boy grows into a young adult, he finds some degree of freedom from his mother’s protective constraints and begins to discover friends, enemies and temptations. His quality of life changes when he meets Suliman, a Sudanese cinematographer, who shares with Muzamil his passion for cinema and existential ideas.
An impressive debut from its director, this film’s title belies its beautiful cinematography and sensitive approach.
