I Swear tells the true story of Galashiels campaigner John Davidson’s difficult journey with Tourette Syndrome.
Diagnosed at 15 in the 1980s (a time when Tourette’s was rarely understood and often condemned) John’s early life was marked by trouble, from his teens through early adulthood. Alienated from both his peers and his family, Davidson fought for a ‘normal’ life against tremendous odds, eventually finding a few unlikely champions to back his relentless perseverance.

Screenings on 15, 16 & 20 November feature an exclusive 5-minute in-person introduction from Paul Stevenson a close friend of John Davidson, the man whose story is featured in the film, and an Ambassador for Genius Within. Drawing on his own lived experience with Tourette Syndrome and his small cameo in the movie, Paul will share personal insights into the film’s making, his friendship with John, and the impactful work of Genius Within.
