What do we choose to carry with us — and why? From keepsakes and lucky charms to everyday essentials, the act of gathering, storing and carrying objects has always been part of human life. Story Pockets with artist Emily Cropton invites you to explore these traditions through creativity, conversation, and making.

In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll design and stitch your own small pocket or pouch to hold a treasured object. Using simple hand-sewing techniques and a selection of fabrics and decorative materials, you’ll create a unique piece that reflects something personal to you and the story your object holds.

As we make together, we’ll explore themes of memory, connection, and the meaning we attach to the things we keep close. The session will finish with an optional sharing circle, where participants can share their pockets, objects, and stories with the group.

You’re welcome to bring a small object that fits in the palm of your hand, although objects will also be available for inspiration on the day.

Suitable for adults and young people aged 14+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult).

Free workshop, donations welcome. Pre booking is essential.
