The Bad Guys 2

Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks  |  1 – 27 August 2025

(PG)

Everyone’s favourite felons are back, and this time, they’ve got company.

In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.

Based on the New York Times best-selling book series by Aaron Blabey, which has soared from 8 million to more than 32 million copies sold since the first film’s release in 2022, The Bad Guys 2 stars the stellar original cast, led by Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Seven Psychopaths) as Mr. Wolf, SAG award nominee Marc Maron (Maron, To Leslie) as safe-cracker Mr. Snake, SAG award nominee Craig Robinson (How Tub Time Machine, This Is the End) as master-of disguise Mr. Shark, Grammy winner Anthony Ramos (In the Heights, Hamilton) as Mr. Piranha and Emmy winner Awkwafina (Ocean’s Eight, The Little Mermaid) as hacker Ms. Tarantula, aka “Webs.”

The returning voice cast is joined by a new trio of comedic powerhouses as The Bad Girls: Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (A Minecraft Movie, The Color Purple) as Bad Girls leader Kitty Kat, a dangerously clever snow leopard; Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Movie Film, The Apprentice) as Pigtail, a brilliant Bulgarian wild boar engineer; and Emmy nominee and comedy icon Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Poker Face) as Doom, a wry raven with a knack for deception.

From celebrated returning director Pierre Perifel (animator on Kung Fu Panda 2, supervising animator on Rise of the Guardians) and producer Damon Ross, p.g.a. (development executive on The Boss Baby, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie), The Bad Guys 2 also features the alumni voice talents of Emmy nominee Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Deadpool) as Governor Diane Foxington, BAFTA winner Richard Ayoade (Submarine, The IT Crowd) as Professor Marmalade, Emmy winner Alex Borstein (Family Guy, Catwoman) as Police Chief (now Commissioner) Misty Luggins and Lilly Singh (Bad Moms, Ice Age: Collision Course) as sensationalist reporter Tiffany Fluffit. The film also features franchise newcomers Omid Djalili (The Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) as Egyptian billionaire Mr. Soliman, Emmy nominee Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live, Tom & Jerry) as Mr. Moon and Jaime Camil (Coco, Jane the Virgin) as Handsome Jorge Garcia.

The Bad Guys 2 is co-directed by JP Sans (supervising animator on Trolls World Tour, animator on Rise of the Guardians), who served as head of character animation on the first film. The screenplay is by Yoni Brenner (Rio 2, Ice Age: Collision Course) and Etan Cohen (The Bad Guys, Men in Black³). The film is executive produced by Cohen, Blabey and Patrick Hughes (Thelma the Unicorn, Honey Girls). The music is by Oscar-nominated returning composer Daniel Pemberton (The Trial of the Chicago 7, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).

The film is edited by Jesse Averna, ACE (Sesame Street, Short Circuit) and the production designer is Luc Desmarchelier (The Bad Guys, art director on Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron). The visual effects supervisor is Matt Baer (Madagascar, The Croods) and the head of character animation is Benjamin Willis (animator on Rise of the Guardians, Kung Fu Panda). The head of story is Katherine De Vries (storyboard artist on The Bad Guys, Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken) and the head of cinematography, layout is Theophile Bondoux (final layout lead on Puss in Boots, layout artist on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World). The art director is Floraine Marchix (The Bad Guys, visual development artist on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World) and the digital supervisor is Youxi Woo (FX lead on Trolls World Tour, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World).
