Join us for a communal haiku walk (ginko), a traditional Japanese way to help writers with focus and inspiration.
Lead by poet, Chris Jupp, we will walk slowly and attentively, opening our senses to what is around us, taking notes as we go. In advance of the walk participants will receive an introduction to contemporary haiku writing in English covering traditional nature haiku, haiku with a climate change theme and speculative haiku, sometimes called scifiku.
After the walk we will return to the Sci-fi Scriptorium to review our notes and draft some haiku with a view to sharing and workshopping them.
Meet at Hide Hill at 2pm. Come prepared for one hour of gentle walking with some rest stops.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a bottle of water.
