What have you recently experienced in your daily life that you would like to share with future generations?
As part of Ben Lewis’ ongoing Quintet Project we’d love you to join us for a fun and creative zine making workshop.
Zines (think magazine) are one off or small print-run books/journals, that are often handmade and are great for spontaneous, fun and relaxed creativity.
During the workshop Ben will show participants how to create zines with simple binding and folding techniques and provide materials for you to fill the pages of your zine with creativity. Ben is also inviting participants to bring along an object, or objects, from your daily life that can either be the inspiration for or included in the zine. Your object could be anything from a photo on your phone (these can be printed from your phone during the workshop), a menu from a restaurant, an email, letter or social media post you’ve recently written or would like to write, a receipt for something you’ve recently purchased, a cinema ticket, etc, etc. The more every day the object the better!
This workshop is part of a series of events with Ben that are inspired by The Quintet – an annual series of thirteen handmade, one-off books composed of letters, photographs, sketches and printed memorabilia created by a group of five friends from Berwick between 1899 and 1911, that are now held in the Berwick museum town collections.
At the end of the workshop Ben will ask all participants to submit the zines they’ve made for inclusion in the final project that will be housed in the new town museum for Berwick.
No experience needed. Tickets are free, but booking is essential. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
