Tim Etchells’ temporary installation ‘Wait Here’ launched at the Barracks on 20 March, funded by the Berwick Welcome Visitor project. The large-scale neon work, which read ‘Wait Here I Have Gone to Get Help’ was placed above the gatehouse entrance of Berwick Barracks and was on display for just over a month.
"The lighting looks amazing around the building from the photos. The message is intriguing and thought provoking - especially during the pandemic and uncertainty!"
The work provoked much debate about the value of contemporary art and siting it within a heritage site, though it undoubtedly brought new audiences and raised awareness of both the site and our programme there.

“Brilliant! The more we can bring the barracks to life the better”
“Would look better in Blackpool not Berwick”
